Marin's mom Isobel is a justice warrior, which is a nickname my own kids and I gave to my mom. While my own mother was never in the Peace Corps (much to her regret, I'm sure; she'd have been amazing at that type of service), she and Isobel share the same drive to make life better for people in need. I really respect this about my mom and I channeled some of that into the character of Isobel - although my own mom and I get along much better than Marin and Isobel for most of the series. This cute design is a tribute to Isobel, my mom, and to all people who follow their heart toward their dreams, especially when those dreams make the world a better place.
