Marin's mom Isobel is a justice warrior, which is a nickname my own kids and I gave to my mom. While my own mother was never in the Peace Corps (much to her regret, I'm sure), she and Isobel share the same drive to make life better for people in need. I really respect this about my mom and I channeled some of that into the character of Isobel - although my own mom and I get along much better than Marin and Isobel for most of the series. This cute design is a tribute to Isobel, my mom, and to all people who follow their heart toward their dreams, especially when those dreams make the world a better place.
